Day One:
It’s been a long ass day. Today started at 6:30am and if it was any other day, I would head straight out of to bed to the kitchen to begin warming water and grinding fresh beans for my French Press. However, this morning I lied in bed for an extra 15 minutes in complete agony. I guess this does determine that I have what some would call an “addiction” but I’m not sold on that idea. The rest of the day was quite simple. I think it was probably easy since I had enjoyed coffee the previous day. Lets see how the rest of the week goes!
Day Two:
Its exactly 8:30...and you’ve guessed it—no coffee for Elyse! On my stroll to class today I had to trudge past one of my favorite coffee carts where I normally pick up a 16oz Dirty Chai Latte to get me through my early morning classes but this morning all I had to work with was an ice water and a blackberry yogurt. Everyone has been telling me that I’m not going to be able to go a week without coffee and hey—maybe they are right! However, my tendency to push past what other people think is likely to outweigh my love for coffee—I hope. The headaches from lack of caffeine I was warned about visited me around noon today. It would have been so easy to pay $4.75 for my favorite latte from the downtown coffee shop but I decided for the sake of this blog, and my debit card, it would be best just to push through the headache. Right at the point of the day when I thought I was in the clear from the influence from coffee my roommate dragged me down to one of our favorite coffee shops to get one of my favorite desserts—an affogato (which if you haven’t had one, its gelato with espresso on top and you must try one NOW!) It was hell sitting surrounded by one thing that I’m obsessed with but I am proud to say that I had the willpower to say no to the coffee and I sat in bliss with my single scoop of toffee almond gelato. This was probably the hardest day so far but I still have 5 days to go and a lot can change in 5 days so stay tuned to see what I have to deal with in the next few days!
