It was a dark and stormy night...well actually it wasn't too dark, or really stormy so I guess it was just a night--Sunday night to be precise. At this point, I was fully appreciating my parent's espresso machine and Keurig. I think at that my coffee count was right around 3 cups of regular coffee and a latte. You might think that that would be a good point to I don't know--maybe STOP DRINKING COFFEE but no way! I was just getting started! That evening, I curled up with a good book and about 2 pages into my reading I had an epiphany. This book would be 100% better if I had a cup of coffee in my hand! You might be asking how the hell a cup of coffee has an effect on a book but I promise it does!! However, as I was taking a second sip of my french roast, a little voice in my head mentioned that there may be a problem here. I thought about it and I can have coffee any time of day and it's caffeine never affects me! People think I'm crazy for brewing coffee at 8 or 9 at night stating "Elyse--you won't be able to sleep with all that caffeine in your system" but alas, I CAN! And thats probably what freaks me out the most. Im at the point where I have had so much coffee that it's tendency to keep you awake and alert has totally worn off. It was at this point that I decided to make a change. I vowed to myself that I would drink no coffee or espresso for a week. When I mentioned this to my roommates and friends I always got the same reaction. Just a laugh... Thats all they gave me and an sarcastic "good luck with that Elyse". So here's to me changing my life for a week and documenting the possible hell I go through on the way there!

You might consider a staggered weaning approach if you are wanting to drive a real change. The drastic cut off approach, similar to a juice cleanse, is really shocking to the system. The headaches alone might drive you mad. Just a thought :) If you are doing it for the sake of the story, by all means, continue. If you are doing it because you really do want to change the habit, consider a softer approach.
